An original Modernist cabinet from the early 1920s. This piece has a dignified design with stylish proportions and a dazzling Walnut pattern on all sides.

The cabinet is divided in two separate parts: the top storage section has six fixed shelves (two horizontal and four vertical) behind a hinged door. The door is supported by a metal hinge and can be left open in a horizontal position. The bottom storage section has one removable shelf behind a swing door. Both doors have individual keys and can be locked.

What is also unique about this piece is its scale. With the width only being 70 cm and depth 35 cm together with the height of 132 cm, this piece is a great “small” but functional addition to any interior.

This piece was sourced in Brno, Czech Republic. It is believed that this table was part of a bespoke project for a living room. In terms of the designer / producer of the cabinet, the quality of the materials and the perfect attention to detail indicates that it is likely to be a project of the local manufacturers and one of the leading furniture producers in Europe at the time - UP Brno Factory - where the iconic architects Jan Vanek and later Jindrich Halabala worked as designers and Art directors.

This piece is in great vintage condition with only minimal wear wear and tear. Recent restoration has fully revived the extremely rich colour of the entire piece, showing off the beautiful walnut patterns on all surfaces. The entire piece has been hand finished by Shellac varnish in order to achieve its original gloss finish. There are some small colour marks and some wear on the wood inside the cabinet. All hardware and fittings are original.

This piece is truly marvellous example of the sophisticated design and high standards of furniture production in Czechoslovakia of the early 20th Century.
