1930s Bauhaus Floor Lamp by Slezakovy Zavody

€0.00

This Modernist floor lamp was designed by Robert Slezak (sometimes the design is also attributed to the Czech Modernist architect Ladislav Zak) and produced by The Slezakovy Zavody Steel Furniture Company in 1930s Czechoslovakia.

This particular piece is the less common model. It comes with a sphere milk glass lampshade (instead of the more common paper shades) and with rich textured walnut veneer base and side table. Slezak was offering different variations of the materials for this lamp and this combination was the most luxurious.

The minimalist language of the sphere glass shape lampshade together with the round walnut table and the base works together to create a perfectly balanced composition.

The table and the glass are joined by a adjustable steel tube in the shape of the letter C. This steel construction makes the whole piece looks very subtle and makes the light and the table look like it’s almost floating in space.

This floor lamp represents the Modernist approach to furniture design. It has puristic and minimalist form, quality materials, its perfectly functional and could be used in different parts of the house.

After some 90 years after being produced, this lamp is still a perfect companion for anyone who likes to read in style.

The whole piece is in great vintage condition. There is some minimal wear and tear on the steel surface and on the wooden parts acquired over the years. Wooden parts have been refurbished, hand finished with a French polishing technique and Shellac varnish to achieve original high gloss. The lamp has got a new wiring with an European plug and is fully functional.
