1940's Modernist Flexible table lamp by Franta Anyz

€0.00

Iconic table lamp produced by Franta Anýž Company and designed by his son Jaroslav Anýž.

This desk lamp is particularly famous due to it’s unique type of joints. The patented joints can make the shade of the lamp be directed in any direction and the height is also adjustable.

Franta Anýž made a significant contribution in putting Czech design on the map, having studied at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, he also worked for Pragatron, designed cameras for the Czech company Flexaret, and won the gold medal at the Salon International des Inventions in Geneva in 1965 for his Beta 21 watch. The Franta Anýž Lighting company was closed down in 1948 by the Communists and became part of the state run Zukov Company which sadly brought a long history of a family tradition of designing unique lighting to an end.

This rare functionalist table lamp shows patina, mainly on the stand collected over the years from use. Otherwise all parts are original and fully functional.
