FN 22 Modernist Armchair by Anton Lorenz for Mucke-Melder

€0.00

This piece was designed by the legendary Anton Lorenz for Mucke-Melder Company in 1935, as model FN 22 Doma. Its design is based on the model B 36 by Marcel Breuer for Thonet Company from 1934. Breuer's version was a solid steel frame with additional cushions on the seat and backseat. Lorenz first upgraded Breuer's design (also for Thonet) as model B 36 P.  It was an armchair with integrated seating within the steel frame. This third version is very similar to Lorenz's first piece for Thonet. The main design difference is the thickness and the shape of the fabric seating. Overall it is a very elegant armchair. There is a perfectly balanced contrast between the fabric and the steel frame together with the dark brown wooden handles. This is a true modernist masterpiece.

We decided to upholster this piece with a dark blue fabric with a delicate texture. It keeps the original style of the chair but also bring a contemporary feel to it.

The chair is in perfect vintage condition. The wooden armrests have been recently refurbished and the fabric reupholstered. There is some very light wear and tear at the bottom part of the steel frame.
