1930's Modernist Table Model H-174 by Jindrich Halabala for UP Brno

€0.00

This Modernist piece was originally designed as a table for holding a radio with an adjustable shelf for newspapers or books. The table was produced in the 1930s by the renown UP Brno and designed by Jindrich Halabala.

The table has a very minimalistic design but its true beauty lies in the subtle perfect of it’s proportions as a whole piece. There is a beauty in the balanced composition of the vertical and horizontal parts. This table clearly highlights Halabala’s ability to produce very modern, practical and attractive furniture that could be mass produced. The piece was not only commercially successful, but accepted by both intellectuals and a wider audience.

A table designed specifically for storing a radio may seem like a strange piece of furniture to our generation, but it was a very popular item in the 1930’s and a must have for any modern household. There were many variations of the table available but this one is definitely one of the best ever produced.

The wooden parts of the piece have been refurbished, hand finished by Shellac and Nitro varnishes and are in perfect vintage condition. There is some minor wear and tear on the formica table top.
