This Mid Century Modern Cabinet was designed by Frantisek Jirak and produced by Tatra Nabytok in 1960’s Czechoslovakia.

The cabinet was inspired by Scandi design and is made of stunning solid Ash wood. The delicate detailing of this piece with its elegantly curved corners, expressive door handles and rounded edges, lifts the whole piece visually, bringing an unusual and compelling element to the whole design. What also unusual about this piece is that there are three doors, which each open in different direction - one opens up to the left, one lifts upwards and the other open outwards and down.

Frantisek Jirak, the designer of this cabinet was one of the most important figures of the Czech 20th century furniture design. His work was clearly inspired by Charles and Ray Eames as well as the Scandinavian designers.

The Tatra Nabytok Factory was founded in 1945 in the Slovakian town of Pravenec. The factory used the buildings originally built by the famous shoe company Bata. During the 1960s Tatra Nabytok became the biggest furniture maker in former Czechoslovakia and produced some of the most iconic pieces of Czech furniture design.

This piece is in great original condition showing only minimal natural wear and tear acquired over the years. There is some faded paint patina inside of the bottom shelve.
