Modernist Floor Lamp with Shelves, UP Brno, 1950s

€780.00

A rare and elegant modernist floor lamp featuring a glass globe lampshade and two integrated low-level shelves, preserved in beautiful vintage condition. The design is both subtle and refined, combining warm walnut veneer with contrasting dark beechwood, creating a rich material palette that highlights the craftsmanship of Central European modernism. The clean lines are complemented by a minimalist spherical glass shade, which softly diffuses light and adds a sculptural quality to the piece.

This model was originally designed in the 1940s by the renowned UP Brno factory, one of the most important furniture manufacturers in Czechoslovakia. During this period the company was under the artistic direction of Jindřich Halabala, whose influence helped shape some of the most iconic examples of Czech modernist design. Due to its popularity, the lamp remained in production in several slightly varied versions until the late 1950s.

The thoughtful combination of lighting and functional shelving makes this piece particularly charming and practical. It is the perfect companion for a reading corner, offering both warm ambient light and space for books or small objects.

This lamp is fully functional and remains in very good vintage condition. All parts are original, with the exception of new wiring for safe contemporary use. What makes this example especially desirable is the original glass globe lampshade, as this model is rarely found with the glass shade intact.

The lamp shows minor wear and a gentle patina consistent with age and use, which only adds to its authentic vintage character and historical charm.
