1. Products & Authenticity
1.1. By Barnabas specialises in original 20th-century vintage furniture, lighting, homeware and posters. We do not sell reproductions or replicas. Most items are sourced from former Czechoslovakia, with provenance clearly stated where available.
1.2. All items are carefully selected, restored and/or preserved with respect for their original character, materials and craftsmanship. Items are sold in safe and functional condition unless otherwise stated. For electrical items, we recommend installation and final safety checks by a qualified professional.
1.3. As vintage and pre-owned objects, items will show natural signs of age, wear, and patina. We aim to describe and photograph all items accurately; however, minor variations in colour, texture or condition may occur due to lighting or display differences.
1.4. Each item is unique and available on a first-come, first-served basis. We reserve the right to withdraw any item from sale at any time prior to confirmation of payment. In such cases, the buyer will be informed immediately and fully refunded if applicable.
1.5. All posters listed as original are verified as vintage prints from the stated period and are not reproductions.
2. Orders & Payment
2.1. Orders are placed via email or website enquiry.
2.2. Once availability and shipping costs are confirmed, we issue a pro forma invoice.
2.3. Items are reserved for 7 calendar days from the date of invoice. If payment is not received within this period, the reservation may be cancelled without obligation.
2.4. All prices are stated in EUR (€) unless otherwise indicated. Prices exclude customs duties, import taxes, and local charges applicable in the buyer’s country.
2.5. Full payment is required prior to dispatch. Orders are shipped once payment has cleared in full.
2.6. Accepted payment methods include bank transfer and other methods agreed in writing.
3. Delivery & Shipping
33.1. We ship internationally from the Czech Republic using professional courier and freight partners. All items are carefully packed at our Brno studio to ensure safe transport.
3.2. Shipping costs are calculated individually based on item size, weight, fragility, and destination. These costs are confirmed prior to final purchase.
3.3. Estimated delivery time is typically 3–10 business days within Europe and 5–14 business days internationally, excluding customs processing delays.
3.4. Risk of loss or damage passes to the buyer upon handover to the carrier, in accordance with applicable law, unless otherwise agreed in writing. We always assist with insurance and claims where relevant.
3.5. Any additional delivery requirements (e.g. lift access, white glove delivery, timed delivery) are the responsibility of the buyer unless explicitly included in the invoice.
4. Returns & Right of Withdrawal
4.1. As a consumer purchasing goods online within the EU, you have the right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of delivery, without providing a reason, in accordance with EU consumer protection law.
4.2. This right does not apply to:
items that have been customised or modified upon request
items that cannot be returned due to their fragile or freight nature if agreed in advance (where legally applicable)
4.3. To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must notify us in writing within 14 days of delivery.
4.4. Returned items must be shipped back in the same condition as received, using appropriate protective packaging. The buyer is responsible for return shipping costs unless otherwise agreed.
4.5. Refunds will be issued within 14 days of receiving the returned item or proof of shipment.
4.6. If an item arrives damaged or not as described, please contact us within 14 days of delivery with supporting documentation. We will assess and may offer repair, partial refund, replacement (if available), or full refund depending on the situation.
4.7. In case of shipping damage, the buyer must also notify the courier immediately and retain all packaging for inspection.
5. Privacy & Data Protection
5.1. We process personal data in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
5.2. Personal data is used solely for order processing, communication, shipping, and legal obligations.
5.3. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties, except where necessary for payment processing, shipping, or legal compliance.
5.4. Payment information is never stored on our systems.
5.5. You have the right to access, rectify, or request deletion of your personal data by contacting us.
6. Liability & Exclusions
6.1. All items are sold as described and intended for decorative or functional use at the buyer’s discretion.
6.2. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or misuse of purchased items.
6.3. Our total liability shall not exceed the total purchase price of the item in question, except where prohibited by law.
7. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
7.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic.
7.2. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in the Czech Republic, unless mandatory consumer protection law provides otherwise.
