1960's Mid Century Modern Ceiling lamp

1960's Mid Century Modern Ceiling lamp
An original 1960s Mid Century ceiling lamp, designed and produced in former Czechoslovakia.
This iconic design is often nicknamed the “Umbrella”, inspired by its elegant, curved form reminiscent of a floating canopy. Its style reflects the celebrated Czech Brussels style of the late 1950s and early 1960s—a uniquely Czech Mid Century Modern aesthetic that emerged following the international success of Czech furniture at Expo 58 in Brussels. While many versions of this ceiling lamp were produced, this particular design is rare and highly sought-after.
The lampshade is crafted from a single rectangular glass panel with gently rounded corners. Its surface features three green and three yellow sections converging towards the centre, intersected by delicate gold lines. This decorative pattern cleverly conceals the three horizontally mounted bulb holders above, creating a soft, ambient glow when illuminated.
This lamp is in excellent vintage condition. There are no cracks in the glass, only very small chips on the upper edge of the glass which is hard to see and the steel parts show only minor, natural signs of wear. All components are original and fully functional, ready to add a distinctive Czech Mid Century touch to your home.
