Crystal Glass Table Lamp by Jaroslav Bejvl, Preciosa, Czechoslovakia, 1970s

€180.00

This distinctive table lamp was designed by one of the best Czech glass designers Jaroslav Bejvl Sr. (1941 - 2016) and produced in Czechoslovakia during the 1970s by the renowned lighting manufacturer Lustry n.p. Preciosa in Kamenický Šenov, one of the historic centres of the country’s glassmaking tradition.

The lamp reflects the precise geometry and clarity of form characteristic of Czechoslovak lighting design of the period. Its construction combines cut crystal glass panels with a brass framework, creating a striking interplay between transparent glass and warm metallic tones. When illuminated, the structured crystal surfaces gently refract the light, producing a soft atmospheric glow while emphasising the sculptural presence of the piece.

The design also highlights the technical expertise of the Czechoslovak lighting industry at a time when Czech glassmaking was internationally recognised for its innovation and craftsmanship.

The lamp remains in good vintage condition, showing a natural patina on the brass elements consistent with age. One of the glass panels has a small chip on one corner, which is difficult to notice and does not affect the functionality or overall visual impression of the lamp.

With its clean geometry, refined materials, and subtle play of light, this piece is a beautiful example of 1970s Czech lighting design, combining decorative elegance with modernist clarity.
