1930s Czechoslovak Modernist Drinks Cabinet
1930s Czechoslovak Modernist Drinks Cabinet
This elegant Modernist Drinks Cabinet was most likely designed and produced in the 1930s in former Czechoslovakia.
Its soft curves and thoughtful details make it a standout piece. The two glass doors feature a subtle abstract pattern, complemented by handcrafted woven rattan accents that add both texture and charm.
The cabinet is divided into three functional sections:
The top shelf features glass and is ideal for displaying bottles or decorative objects.
The middle section is designed for glassware and includes a wooden shelf partially enclosed by two glass doors for easy access.
The bottom shelf, made from woven rattan and open on all sides, offers perfect storage for books, magazines, or bar accessories.
A subtle trim runs along the lower and middle frames, while the top section features a graceful curved edge. The cabinet stands on four steel castor wheels, making it easy to move and position as needed.
While the designer or manufacturer is unknown, the refined form, quality materials, and craftsmanship strongly suggest it may have been produced by one of Europe’s leading furniture makers of the time—possibly UP Brno or Thonet.
The cabinet is in good vintage condition, with some light signs of age and patina on the wood. The top of the oak frame has a slight bend from age, adding to its authenticity and character.
