Thonet Dining Chair Model A 524

€280.00

This stylish dining chair is an original Thonet design from 1936, listed in the company’s sales catalogue as model no. A 524. It is believed to have been produced in one of Thonet’s factories in former Czechoslovakia, a region known for its fine craftsmanship and modernist furniture heritage.

The chair showcases Thonet’s graceful transition from decorative pre-war designs to the functional modernism of the late 1930s. Every line and curve serves a purpose: the gently tapered legs, subtly curved seat, and the distinctive rounded backrest form a perfectly balanced composition that is both comfortable and visually refined.

What makes this particular piece especially striking is the combination of materials and tones - the seat and backrest display a beautiful patterned walnut veneer in honey-brown hues, complemented by the dark chocolate tones of the legs and seat frame made of solid beech. The result is a timeless, warm aesthetic that celebrates the natural beauty of wood.

This chair has been fully restored by our skilled craftsman using traditional techniques faithful to the original Thonet production methods. The natural pattern of the walnut veneer has been revived and protected with a hand-applied Shellac finish, giving it a soft, satin glow. The result is a piece that feels as fresh and elegant as it did nearly a century ago.

A perfect choice for those who appreciate the honest elegance of early modernist design, equally at home around a contemporary dining table or as a statement piece in a curated interior.
