1960s Flower Vase – Model 6011 by Mária Stahlikova & Milena Veliskova (Skrdlovice)

€160.00

There is a rare softness to the glass designs created by Mária Stáhlíková and Milena Velíšková, two of Skrdlovice’s most distinct female voices of the mid-20th century. Their collaborative Model 6011 vase, designed in the 1960s, is a beautiful example of how they brought sensitivity, sculpture, and quiet confidence into the language of Czech art glass.

Unlike the faceted modernism that defined much of the period, this vase speaks in curves rather than edges. Its organic silhouette feels almost hand-drawn, as if the form grew naturally from molten glass rather than being imposed upon it. Gentle contours rise and gather in a way that feels both sculptural and undeniably feminine in grace, flow, and expressive movement.

Light passes across the surface with a soft, liquid quality, emphasising the smooth transitions and rounded volumes Stáhlíková and Velíšková were known for. The piece carries a quiet sensuality: elegant, understated, and deeply tactile. Even without flowers, it stands as a sculptural object, beautiful from every angle, balanced in proportion, and confident in its simplicity.

Produced by the Skrdlovice glassworks as model 6011, this vase reflects the studio’s ethos of experimentation and hand-finished craftsmanship. Each example carries subtle variations, making every piece a small one-off within the model line. It evokes the gentle organicism seen in Scandinavian design of the same era, yet remains rooted in the distinctly Czech tradition of expressive studio glass.

This vase is preserved in excellent vintage condition, with no chips and only minimal wear consistent with age, just the slightest traces of a life well lived.

A poetic and quietly compelling work of mid-century design, perfect for collectors who appreciate glass shaped not only by skill, but by sensitivity and artistic intuition.
