1970s Green Glass Vase by Frantisek Vizner for Skrdlovice Glassworks, Model 7626/24

€340.00

This rare flower vase, designed in the 1970s by the acclaimed Czech glass artist Frantisek Vizner (1936-2011), is a stunning example of postwar European studio glass. Created at the Skrdlovice Glassworks, a legendary hub of experimentation and craftsmanship, it reflects the extraordinary fusion of technical mastery and poetic simplicity that defined Vizner’s work.

The vase, known as model 7626/24, is formed from thick, hand-blown green glass, encasing layers of shimmering mica particles sealed within the body of the glass. These metallic inclusions catch the light and subtly shift as the viewer moves, creating a quiet sense of depth and movement - almost like golden dust suspended in water. The form itself is beautifully balanced: a rounded body tapering gently into a narrow neck, giving it a sculptural yet serene presence.

Vizner’s design language was rooted in restraint and precision. His pieces celebrate proportion, surface, and optical play rather than ornamentation — qualities that made his work internationally admired. Each vase was blown from high-quality glass and ground and polished by hand, giving it a flawless tactile finish.

Produced in limited numbers at Skrdlovice during one of its most innovative periods, this vase stands as a collector-grade object - a tangible reflection of Czech glassmaking excellence in the 20th century. Frantisek Vizner’s works today are held in the permanent collections of MoMA (New York), the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (Paris), and the Moravian Gallery (Brno), attesting to his lasting influence on modern glass art.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition, free from cracks or chips, with only minimal, age-appropriate wear. Its rich colour, inner luminosity, and timeless form make it not just a decorative object, but a work of art - one that embodies the quiet brilliance of Czech glass design.
