1930s Modernist Dressing Table - SOLD TO USA

€0.00

An original Modernist dressing table from the 1930s, this piece combines striking geometric clarity with soft organic curves. The composition is anchored by a tall rectangular mirror, beautifully contrasted by the flowing, asymmetrical shapes of the cabinet and shelves. The dark polished wood is accented with black opaxite glass surfaces, giving the piece a sophisticated presence that will appeal to collectors and design enthusiasts alike.

The structure is cleverly divided: a circular opaxite side table projects gracefully from one end, while the opposite side features tiered shelving and a rounded storage compartment with a curved wooden door. A horizontal shelf connects the two sides, balancing the verticality of the mirror with an architectural sense of proportion.

Although the designer and maker remain unknown, the well-balanced composition, refined craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and meticulous attention to detail suggest that it may have originated from the renowned UP Brno factory, where the celebrated architect Jindřich Halabala served as Art Director.

The dressing table remains in very good vintage condition, showing only minor wear on the glass and wood, consistent with its age and gentle use. The mirror has been renewed with an identical replacement, offering full clarity while remaining faithful to the original design.
