1980s Kovona Swivel Side Table, Czechoslovakia

€320.00

Made by Kovona in Czechoslovakia in 1987, this side table was originally designed to hold a television or radio. Its rectangular beech top swivels from side to side on a slender steel support, allowing it to be positioned without moving the whole table.

The design captures a moment when furniture was adapting to new technology in the home. Today, the same practical feature makes it a flexible side table beside a sofa or armchair. The warm wood grain softens the steel structure, while the X-shaped base and small spherical feet give the piece a playful, distinctive silhouette.

Why we like it

The contrast between the wood grain and the steel gives the table a distinctive late twentieth-century character. Its X-shaped base and small spherical feet add a playful detail, while the swivelling top makes it easy to position exactly where you need it.

Condition & Restoration

The old lacquer has been removed, and the wooden surfaces have been cleaned and newly polished. The table is in very good vintage condition, with minor wear to the top and light patina on the steel base.
