This is an original par of fencing mask believed to be produced in France in the 1920's.

Both masks are made of rich brown coloured leather with a hard steel mash for protecting the face and thick light brown fabric to protect the neck. The leather part has cross shaped decorative embossed on its sides. At the back there is a bent steel bar covered in leather, which holds the mask safely on the head but also allows it to be removed quickly. The masks are identical, the only difference is the insides. One mask has an inside made of black leather, the other has a light coloured thick fabric.

This pair is a lovely reminder of a gentlemanly sport and would make a lovely collector's piece for a sports enthusiast or as a great addition to house decor.

Both mask are in great vintage condition. There is some wear and patina on the leather parts gained over the years.
