1960s Wooden Wall Light with Opaline Glass Shade

About the Light

A beautifully proportioned wooden wall light dating from the 1960s, believed to have been produced in former Czechoslovakia.

The design combines the playful, sculptural character of Mid-Century design with a distinct Scandinavian influence. Its elegant composition is formed from a tall, sculpted wall plate, a slender projecting arm and a conical wooden shade holder, all unified by softly rounded, organic lines. The warm colour and expressive natural grain of the wood give the light a particularly inviting character.

The sculptural opaline glass shade perfectly complements the wooden construction. Its generous, organically curved form introduces a softer counterpoint to the architectural wooden arm, while gently diffusing the light to create a warm and atmospheric glow.

The light is mounted directly to the wall, while the projecting arm can be adjusted from side to side, allowing the position of the shade to be changed as required. An on/off switch is conveniently positioned on the electrical cable below the light.

A distinctive example of 1960s lighting, combining practical adjustability with beautifully balanced proportions, flowing organic forms and a strong sculptural presence.

Condition & Restoration

The light has been carefully inspected, cleaned and prepared for continued use in our Brno workshop.

The wood retains its warm original character and displays only gentle traces of age and previous use. The construction remains stable, and all components are functional and well preserved. Please refer to the photographs for a detailed overview of its condition.
