Table Lamp by Jaroslav Anyz for Lustry Kamenicky Senov, 1950s
Table Lamp by Jaroslav Anyz for Lustry Kamenicky Senov, 1950s
Elegant, understated, and unmistakably Czech, this rare table lamp was designed by Jaroslav Anýž for the renowned lighting manufacturer Lustry Kamenický Šenov.
The lamp combines several materials characteristic of post-war Czechoslovak design: a sculptural black ceramic base produced by Ditmar Urbach, a slender steel stem, and a softly organic milk-glass shade that diffuses light with a warm, atmospheric glow. The contrast between the dark ceramic body and the luminous glass creates a refined silhouette that feels both functionalist and distinctly modern.
Jaroslav Anýž came from a celebrated family of craftsmen. As a descendant of Franta Anýž, one of Bohemia's most respected chasers and makers of decorative metalwork and lighting, he continued the family's tradition while embracing the cleaner lines and material experimentation of mid-century design.
Compact in scale yet rich in character, this lamp works beautifully as a bedside light, desk lamp, or accent piece on a shelf or side table. Its balanced proportions and timeless palette allow it to complement both contemporary and vintage interiors.
The lamp remains in very good vintage condition and is fully functional. The milk-glass shade shows only minor age-related wear along the edges, with a small crack barely noticeable in everyday use. The ceramic base and metal elements display a light, even patina consistent with age. All components are original.
A beautiful example of Czech mid-century lighting, this piece brings together the work of two important Czechoslovak manufacturers—Lustry Kamenický Šenov and Ditmar Urbach—in one elegant object. Increasingly difficult to find in such complete and original condition, it represents the thoughtful craftsmanship and material sophistication that make Czech design so enduringly collectible.
